2 theft suspects killed in encounter with police in QC

MANILA, Philippines — Two theft suspects were killed in an encounter with the police, the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) announced Sunday.
According to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit, while patrolling around Sunday midnight along Araneta Avenue in Quezon City, a victim named Andrea Madrigal sought help after being robbed.
The suspects were said to have ridden a tricycle to escape.
The police then intercepted the suspects who fired their guns at the authorities. The police fought back, which resulted in the death of the two suspects.
The QCPD Forensic Team seized two revolvers, one Magnum 357 Smith, and 18 packs of crystal meth or shabu.
QCPD Director Brigadier General Remus Medina commended the police’s response.
“Pinupuri ko ang ating mga pulis sa kanilang maagap na pagresponde sa biktima. Maging isang banta sana ito sa mga kriminal na walang takot sa paggawa ng krimen dahil marami tayong mga pulis na itinalaga sa lansangan upang magbantay sa katahimikan at kapayapaan ng Quezon City,” said Medina in a statement.

National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Director Major General Vicente Danao, meanwhile, assured that they will continue to fight crimes.
“Ang Team NCRPO ay buong katapangang susuungin ang anumang panganib upang ipatupad ang kampanya laban sa kriminalidad. Kung kaya naman hinihingi namin ang kooperasyon ng publiko para sa ikatatahimik at ikaaayos ng ating komunidad,” Danao said.
