MANILA, Philippines — While only thin cloud clusters were seen over the country, the state weather bureau warned of isolated rains especially in the northern parts of the country due to the northeast monsoon or amihan.
Reports from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) on Friday afternoon showed that the frontal system and the amihan bring cloud formations over Northern Luzon and Central Luzon, which may lead to isolated rains and thunderstorms.
Pagasa also said that Southern Mindanao including the Davao Region may also see scattered rain showers due to clouds over waters south of the country.
No weather disturbance is expected to affect the country in the coming days, as state meteorologists said that there is a low chance of a tropical cyclone entering the Philippine area of responsibility within the month February.
On Saturday, generally fair weather conditions are expected to persist over Luzon, save for isolated rains and thunderstorms over areas affected by the amihan. Temperatures would remain lower up north, at only 21 to 29 degrees Celsius over Tuguegarao, 23 to to 30 degrees over Laoag, and 15 to 22 degrees over Baguio.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila may have something between 24 to 32 degrees Celsius, Legazpi with 24 to 31 degrees, Tagaytay with 21 to 28 degrees, and Puerto Princesa with 25 to 32 degrees.
Similar conditions are expected in Visayas and Mindanao: Tacloban and Iloilo may have temperatures of 25 to 31 degrees Celsius, Cebu and Cagayan de Oro with 24 to 31 degrees, and Zamboanga and Davao with 24 to 32 degrees.
No gale warning has been raised by Pagasa, which means that small fishing boats may still operate in any part of the country.
