He’s apparently not his brother’s keeper.
A 49-year-old man was arrested in Mandaluyong City for allegedly being the driver of a vehicle that ran over his older brother three times on Friday, leaving the latter severely injured.
Both engineers, the siblings were said to be embroiled in a long-running feud.
Quoting eyewitness accounts, police said the victim, Crisostomo Reyes, 55, was tinkering with his motorcycle just outside his house on Calbayog Street, Barangay Highway Hills at around 6:30 p.m. when an Asian utility vehicle (AUV) came speeding toward him.
The blue vehicle (UTH-143) was driven by Reyes’ younger brother, Francisco, who lived in another house nearby.
After hitting the victim once, the vehicle backed up and then hit the elder Reyes for a second and third time.
Crisostomo Reyes was rushed to Dr. Victor R. Potenciano Medical Center for leg injuries, according to the investigator, SPO1 Disilito Custodio.
Police have yet to talk to the older Reyes because of his condition. His brother was arrested by barangay officials and detained at the city police headquarters, facing charges of frustrated homicide and malicious mischief.
