MANILA, Philippines — While celebrities made appearances during their campaign rallies, the Lacson-Sotto tandem on Thursday said they remained consistent in not resorting to singing or dancing to woo voters.

“Hindi naman kami y’ung sumasayaw na parang lumba-lumba. Hindi kami ‘yun. Intermission ‘yun eh,” presidential candidate Panfilo Lacson said during his weekly “Meet the Press” forum with his running mate, vice presidential candidate Senate President Vicente Sotto III.

(We are not the ones dancing like dolphins. That’s not us. It’s an intermission number.)

This comes after the two senators were asked regarding the attendance of Sotto’s brother, Vic, and his “Eat Bulaga” colleagues during some of their campaign sorties.

“We are not engaging in dancing or singing,” said Sotto, the incumbent Senate president.

“Hindi kami. That’s what makes it different. ‘Yun, trabaho nila ‘yun. Kung gusto nilang sumuporta samin, natutuwa kami,” Sotto added.

(Not us. That’s what makes it different. Our guests, it’s their jobs to be entertainers. If they want to support us, we are happy.)

“’Wag idamay ‘yung mga tumutulong samin na ang hanapbuhay nila ‘yung pagiging artista. Iba yun. That is a completely different thing,” he further said.

(Do not drag those who are helping us as that’s what they do for a living, they’re entertainers. That’s different. That is a completely different thing.)
