LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte—Unvaccinated or partially vaccinated residents, who are returning to Ilocos Sur province from Alert Level 3 areas, need to go on home quarantine for at least 14 days, according to Ilocos Sur Gov. Ryan Luis Singson.

In an executive order issued Tuesday, Feb. 15, Singson said the provincial government decided to ease the COVID-19 restrictions to reopen the economy further.

The national task force against COVID-19 placed the province under COVID-19 Alert Level 2 today, Feb. 16. It was previously under Alert Level 3 after a spike in COVID-19 cases due to the Omicron variant.

Aside from home quarantine, unvaccinated or partially vaccinated returning residents would need to present a negative RT-PCR test released within 72 hours before arrival in the province.

Fully vaccinated returning residents coming from Alert Level 3 areas are no longer required to undergo home quarantine but should present a negative RT-PCR test released within 72 hours.

Proof of vaccination is needed if coming from areas under Alert Levels 1 and 2.

Singson also required all indoor establishments to check the vaccination status of all individuals.

The latest data from the provincial government showed that Ilocos Sur had logged 21,744 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began, of which 354 remained active.
