MANILA, Philippines — Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea on Tuesday warned the public against fraudulent schemes using his office.

Medialdea said that a certain Michael Roa “has been maliciously misrepresenting himself as Chief of Staff of the Office of the Executive Secretary (OES).”

“This ‘Michael Roa’ was involved in several fraudulent schemes and has reportedly solicited funds from local government units using the name of the OES and under the guise of acting under the direction and supervision of Malacañang,” the Palace official said in a statement.

Medialdea told the public that his office and the office of President Rodrigo Duterte have not authorized any individual with that name to act on their behalf.

“Both offices likewise do not have any ‘Michael Roa’ under their employ,” he said.

He then advised the public to report to the 8888 Citizens’ Complaint Center for appropriate action, should they have been reached or have transacted with the said person.

Medialdea said that any person using the name “Michael Roa” for fraudulent acts would be held accountable.

“We will ensure that he and any other person using the said name shall be made responsible to the fullest extent of the law,” he said.
