OLONGAPO CITY––All COVID-19 risk indicators in this city continued to show a sustained downward trend in virus spread, even posting on Monday no new cases, local data showed.

It was the first time that the city registered zero new COVID-19 cases this year after experiencing a surge in January.

Five new recoveries were also added Monday to the city’s tally, bringing its active infections to 84.

Since the pandemic struck in 2020, the city has recorded 6,933 confirmed COVID-19 cases with 6,508 recoveries.

The independent analytics group OCTA Research said the city has a “very low” reproduction rate at 0.25 and a “low” average daily attack rate at 1.65 per 100,000 people.

This was an improvement from the moderate risk classification for the city last week based on the data from the Department of Health.
