MANILA, Philippines — 1-Pacman Partylist Rep. Mikee Romero has vowed to amplify the growth of the business industry by encouraging the growth and development of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
The House deputy speaker, whose partylist group is again joining the 2022 national elections, cited that 99.51% of business establishments in the country is comprised of MSMEs.
He said the strengthening of MSMEs will create positive impact to the business community and help many individuals and families.
Given the solon’s extensive background in the industry, he advocated for MSMEs to have a better future in the country by securing the rights of MSMEs and their employees through House Bill No. 9178 otherwise known as the “Magna Carta for MSMEs.”
Under the bill, the national government, its bureaus, offices and agencies are mandated to allocate at least 10 percent of all its procurement opportunities for goods and services to eligible MSMEs.
Romero also encouraged businesses to give back, hence the filing of House Bill No. 6137 or “Corporate Social Responsibility Act” where businesses are encouraged to voluntarily take part in achieving sustainability so that the larger population will also benefit from their blessings and success.
The congressman said it is a win-win for both the businesses and the public.
