LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte—All provinces in the Ilocos region are reverting to COVID-19 Alert Level 2 beginning Feb. 16, the Inter-Agency Task Force announced on Monday, Feb. 14.

The provinces of Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, and Dagupan City were previously placed under the more restrictive COVID-19 Alert Level 3 after experiencing a spike in cases last month, which were attributed to the Omicron variant.

So far, the regional Department of Health has reported a total of 88 Omicron cases, of which 73 had no travel history outside the region.

Latest data from the DOH showed that 95.9 percent of the 5,156 active COVID-19 cases in the region either had mild symptoms or were asymptomatic.
