MANILA, Philippines — Metro Manila logged a “relatively high” 558 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, a fellow of independent analytics group OCTA Research said.

The Philippines registered 3,050 new COVID infections on February 13, the lowest single-day tally for the year.

“558 new cases in the NCR, this is relatively high compared to the national number of 3, 050, but still within range of our Jan. 24 projections,” Guido David said on Twitter, citing data from the Department of Health.

The positivity rate, however, declined to 8.5 percent in Metro Manila, David said.

“The positivity rate is still decreasing, down to 8.5% in the NCR. Hopefully the number in the NCR tomorrow will be less than 500,” David noted.

According to the World Health Organization’s benchmark, the COVID-19 positivity rate should be five percent which indicates controlled transmission of the coronavirus.

The following is the breakdown of new COVID-19 cases per local government in Metro Manila:

City of Manila – 107 new cases

Quezon City – 98 new cases

Makati – 81 new cases

Taguig – 43 new cases
