Suicide bombing rocks Yemen Republican Guard troops camp
SANAA — A suicide car bombing ripped through a Republican Guard troops camp southwest of the Yemeni capital on Saturday, days after Al-Qaeda claimed a similar attack that killed 26 soldiers, military sources said.
The attack by a “bomb-laden car” took place in the city of Bayda 170 kilometres (105 miles) southwest of the capital Sanaa, the sources said adding that there were “casualties.”
Witnesses said the camp’s three-storey building was left in ruins after the attack. Republican Guard units are led by the son of Yemen’s former president Ali Abdullah Saleh.
