MANILA, Philippines — Catholic charismatic group El Shaddai is endorsing former police chief retired Gen. Guillermo Eleazar for senator.

Mike Velarde, head of the group, introduced Eleazar to the members of El Shaddai during their activity in Parañaque City on Sunday.

“Ang halal ng taumbayan ay ang Diyos ang may halal. Hindi tayo basta pipili ng sinuman kailangan na ang pipiliinili natin ay maliwanag, kasing liwanag ng tanghaling tapat,” Velarde said.

(What the people elect is elected by God. We should not choose just anyone but we should make our choices clear, as clear as the noontime.)

Eleazar, for his part, thanked El Shaddai for the endorsement.

“This is a major source of strength as I pursue my commitment to serve the Filipino with dignity and integrity,” Eleazar said.

El Shaddai also endorsed the tandem of former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio.
