MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 5.4 earthquake struck Dalupiri Island in Cagayan on Sunday noon, state seismologists reported.

The quake, which was tectonic in origin, occurred 16 kilometers west of Dalupiri Island at around 12:36 pm, according to Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

Intensity 5 was reported in Calayan, Cagayan, while Intensity four and two were reported in Pasuquin and Paoay in Ilocos Norte, respectively.

Meanwhile, instrumental intensities were reported in said areas:

Intensity IV – Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte
Intensity III – Laoag City, Ilocos Norte
Intensity II – Sinait, Ilocos Sur; Peñablanca and Gonzaga, Cagayan
Intensity I – Vigan City, Ilocos Sur

No damage is expected due to the earthquake but aftershocks will ensue, according to Phivolcs.
