DOH eyes 70% COVID-19 vaccine coverage in Ilocos region by March

LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte – The Department of Health (DOH) targets 70 percent of the 5.3 million eligible population in the Ilocos Region with at least one dose of vaccine against COVID-19 by March.

The latest monitoring report as of Thursday, Feb. 10, from DOH, showed that at least 3,531,273 or 66 percent of the target population in the region had received at least one dose of the vaccine.

About 56 percent, or 3,184,931 people, had been inoculated fully, the data showed.

Ilocos Norte topped the tally with 68.60 percent of its target population of 620,062 fully vaccinated, the DOH said.

Ilocos Sur followed with 67.88 percent of its 724,395 residents fully vaccinated, and La Union at 58.4 percent of its target 842,047 population.

Pangasinan had inoculated at least 55.62 percent of its 2,983,214 target population.

The region is also eyeing to start the COVID-19 vaccination rollout on Feb. 14 among 5- to 11-year-old children, targeting at least 731,334 individuals.
