APPLICANTS for the Mandaue City College (MCCC) administrator have until next week to file for the post.

The search for the college’s city administrator was extended as city encouraged residents from Mandaue City to apply.

City administrator lawyer James Abadia said the city prefers hiring a true Mandauehanon who could relate to the needs of the students and the city.

In fact, Abadia said the city is considering Dr. Leo Acebar, assistant college administrator for academic affairs, as Cabahug’s possible replacement.

However, in a separate interview, Cabahug said that as the deadline nears, there were only six applicants for the position, one Mandaue city resident and five others from outside the province.

Cabahug also said that Acebar did not qualify in two criteria that were set for the applicants so they could vie for the position.

Last month, the city government announced the search for a college administrator that would replace Dr. Susana Cabahug.

The search was launched after the Civil Service Commission (CSC) denied the city’s motion for reconsideration to retain Dr. Susana Cabahug in the position.

In 2007, former acting mayor Amadeo Seno appointed Cabahug as administrator of city-owned MCC after the city lost its trust and confidence in its first president, Dr. Paulus Canete, who now administers another school but with the same name. /Correspondent Norman Mendoza
