MANILA, Philippines – Ninety-two percent of tourism workers in the country are already fully vaccinated against COVID-19, the Department of Tourism (DOT) said Thursday.
According to data presented by DOT Director for Tourism Standards and Regulation Virgilio Maguigad in an online media forum, a total of 317,892 or 92.51 percent of the 349,534 targeted tourism workers are already vaccinated against COVID-19.
Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat told INQUIRER.net in a Viber message that all the 317,892 workers are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila topped the regions with the highest percentage of tourism workers vaccinated at 99.92 percent, followed by Bicol Region at 99.61 percent, and Central Luzon at 99.24 percent, according to Maguigad.
“Of particular accomplishment is that a hundred percent of tourism workers are vaccinated in major tourism destinations,” he said in a media forum organized by the Department of Health.
These tourist destinations are Baguio City, Aurora, Coron, El Nido, Puerto Princesa, San Vicente, Mandaue City and Camiguin, according to the DOT official.
Maguigad also said that 38.76 percent of tourism workers in Metro Manila, 28.21 percent in Central Luzon, and 17.43 percent in Central Visayas have already received booster shots. Jericho Zafra, Inquirer.net trainee
