Bike Crash In Moalboal

A 41-YEAR-OLD habal-habal driver died when his motorbike hit a lamppost in Moalboal town, south Cebu, yesterday dawn.

Police brought Joel Tabanao to the Badian District Hospital but doctors declared him already dead.

Tabanao was speeding on a a black Honda Wave motorcycle when he crashed into the lampost 30 meters from the police station.

He hit his head on the lamppost and fell on the ground. /Correspondent Rhea Ruth Rosell

Gang War?

A 29-YEAR-OLD businessman in Talisay City was shot and wounded by motorcycle-riding men in a random shooting by armed youths in Isla Verde, barangay San Isidro, Talisay City, last Thursday evening.

Basilio Toring was shot in the right arm.

Police said men on board a blue XRM Honda motorcycle passed by a group of youths and shouted,””Gangsta!” One of the youths replied, “Kalug mo.”

The motorbike riders returned minutes later and the backrider got down and fired his gun at the youths.

Toring, who was nearby preparing copper for delivery in Cebu, was hit.

Police, who recovered a slug of a 9mm pistol, said the incident could be gang-related violence. /Correspondent Gabriel Bonjoc

Shooting In Pasil

A former Internet cafe employee was shot dead by two men in Pasil, Cebu City, last Thursday night.

Police are still looking into the motive of the attack on Marfran Bariguit Jaca, 45.

He was on his way to an Internet café in F. Flores Street and was about to cross the street when a man approached and shot him.

The shooter then walked to the next corner where a cohort in a black motorcycle was waiting for him. Police recovered a shell of a .45 pistol in the area. /Correspondent Chito Aragon

Talisay Holdup

The wife of an Indian national was held up by two men posing as delivery boys in Camella Homes, barangay Lawaan I, Talisay City, last Thursday afternoon.

Jas Cavan, 28, said she lost P50,000 and a cell phone worth P7,000 to the holduppers.

Two men pretending to be LBC personnel from Manila asked her house help to open the gate for them.

Cavan instructed the maid to open the gate, but upon entering, the men pulled out guns and declared a holdup.

Fearing for her life, the housewife said she handed over the cash. The men fled on board a Honda XRM motorcycle. The victim said one of the men looked like an Indian national. /Correspondent Gabriel Bonjoc
