DOH targets 735,631 kids for vaccination vs COVID-19 in Eastern Visayas
TACLOBAN CITY — At least 735,631 children in Eastern Visayas need to be vaccinated against COVID-19, the Department of Health (DOH) said.
Jelyn Lopez Malibago, DOH regional information officer, said the vaccination for children aged 5 to 11 in the region would start on Feb. 14.
Leyte province has the highest number of children to be vaccinated with 319,203, followed by Samar (132,063), Northern Samar (112,274), Eastern Samar (80,640), Southern Leyte (64,233, and Biliran province (27,218).
This early, the DOH, through various local governments, is preparing for the inoculation of children using the Pfizer brand.
“The vaccine is safe, effective, and free. So we encourage everyone to join us in our campaign to vaccinate our children aged five to 11 years old,” Malibago said.
