BACOLOD CITY – Supporters of presidential candidate Leni Robredo and her running mate Kiko Pangilinan kicked off on Feb. 8, the first day of the national campaign, with a Mass, caravans, mob dances, and other festive pink events in various parts of Negros Occidental.

Former governor Rafael Coscolluela, the campaign manager of Robredo in Negros Occidental, said they do not have the usual political machinery but have thousands of volunteers with a lot of energy.

“We will be mobilizing all the warm bodies that we have into a cohesive campaign to convert all this energy into actual votes,” he said.

The Negros Occidental Robredo People’s Council core groups are outlining specific campaign activities for the next 90 days, including converting their “lugaw” (porridge) drive to a campaign for their presidential bet and her team.

“This fight is not just about Leni. This fight is about learning how to find a good leader who will give us good government,” he said.

“Robredo has character, competence, a track record, program of government, and the ability to solve problems, which are necessary for a good president,” he said.

Supporters joined a “Pink Fiesta” concert at the Robredo-Pangilinan headquarters at Hernaez Street in this city, where they danced and watched performances of groups like the Negros Youth for Leni, Women for Leni, Scholasticans for Leni, Lasallians for Leni, and Drag Queens for Leni.

Drumbeaters from Bago City and volunteers from La Carlota and San Carlos cities also performed at the concert. Among the speakers was Celia Flor, who is running for councilor of Bacolod City.

“Our support for Leni Robredo and Kiko Pangilinan cannot be bought with money. This is a movement of volunteers,” Flor said.
