MANILA, Philippines — Interior Secretary Eduardo Año said that 12 out of the 17 regions in the country had so far submitted their list of unvaccinated individuals.
“This will be our basis to focus on the areas in the list who have yet to be vaccinated,” Año said.
“Most of these places are in far-flung areas, so we will devise a strategy on how to deliver vaccines to them,” he added.
He said the government would provide “appropriate focus” on areas with low vaccination rates where additional volunteers would be dispatched and more vaccine doses will be delivered.
As of Feb. 4, almost 60 million have been fully vaccinated, or more than 54 percent of the country’s 110 million population.
In a memorandum circular last month, Año ordered all the 42,046 barangays in the country to submit to the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) a list of all of its unvaccinated residents.
