‘I can’t just do vlogs’: Willie Ong aims to serve people better if elected VP
MANILA, Philippines — Getting elected vice president, Dr. Willie Ong says, will put him in a position to better serve people, especially in healthcare matters.
Ong is running for the post as the running mate of Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso.
“If you ask me: Doc Willie, why are you running? Why seek a post? Well, I need a post so I can help you more. I can’t just keep on doing vlogs?” Ong said in Filipino on Tuesday during the proclamation rally of the Aksyon Demokratiko at the Kartilya ng Katipunan in Manila.
He lamented the current situation where buying face shields get a higher priority than building hospitals.
“Hospitals are cheap. Just three billion. Cheaper than face shields. What’s happening? We have borrowed so much and yet we have not built even one hospital,” he said in Filipino. “That’s why Doc Willie Ong is running. It’s getting very annoying.”
