OLONGAPO CITY — As the official campaign period kicked off on Tuesday (Feb. 8), supporters of Vice President Leni Robredo took to the streets to back her presidential bid in the coming May 9 elections.
Garbed in pink and carrying banners with messages of support for Robredo, more than 1,000 participants joined the unity walk dubbed “Lakad para sa Bayan,” which culminated with a short program at Marikit Park.
The participants include lawyers, doctors, members of the LGBTQIA+ community, and several local groups.
Lolito Go, a singer-songwriter, who joined the unity walk together with his family, said of Robredo: “S’ya ay may conviction, pero hindi convicted. Ang opisina n’ya ang may pinakamagandang record sa [Commision on Audit].”
He added: “She’s a law abider at hindi tax evader. Nagtatrabaho s’ya at hindi hanging around, jobless.”
The unity walk was carried out in time for the official launch of Robredo’s presidential campaign in her bailiwick Naga City.
Robredo is set to visit this city and Zambales province on Saturday (Feb. 12).
