GENERAL SANTOS CITY – Health protocols were not observed in this city as thousands of supporters showed up at the campaign of boxing icon and Senator Emmanuel Pacquiao, who is running for president in the May 9 polls.

At the Oval Plaza in this city, Pacquiao supporters from different places ignored signs and placards informing the people to observe social distancing.

The huge crowd outnumbered the police deployed to implement measures against COVID-19.

“I am already vaccinated. I don’t mind getting the virus. I will just take more vitamins,” Ronny Balumas, a supporter, told the Inquirer.

On the first day of the national campaign, Pacquiao visited workers at the fish port and the Pacman village in the morning before proceeding with his motorcade in the early afternoon just before his proclamation rally at the Oval Plaza.
