Officers of the Parañaque City police have arrested a Malaysian national and his alleged Filipino cohort for reportedly posing as process servers at the Parañaque City Regional Trial Court (RTC) who would help free three kidnapping suspects from detention.

MANILA, Philippines — Officers of the Parañaque City police have arrested a Malaysian national and his alleged Filipino cohort for reportedly posing as process servers at the Parañaque City Regional Trial Court (RTC) and tried to release three kidnapping suspects from detention.

Southern Police District (SPD) director Brig. Gen. Jimili Macaraeg on Tuesday identified the Malaysian national as Owi Jee Hao and his companion as Lorenz Vicedo.

The release order, however, was found to be fake after verification.

Police said they are preparing complaints for falsification of public documents and usurpation of authority against the Malaysian national and his cohort before the office of the Parañaque City Prosecutor’s Office.

“Let this serve as a warning to all pretending to be a person of authority, representing a department or agency in the Philippine government is a serious crime punishable by law,” Macaraeg said in a statement.

“Kaya’t huwag niyo nang tangkain pa dahil hindi natin ito palalagpasin [That’s why you should not dare to do this because we will not condone this kind of action]. We will enforce the law without exception,” he added. Jericho Zafra, Inquirer.net trainee
