Armed men torch backhoe in Samar
ORMOC CITY — Armed men, suspected to be New People’s Army members, set a backhoe on fire Thursday in Barangay Nawi, Paranas town, Samar.
Initial investigation showed that the backhoe, owned by Engr. Lope Deporada Jr., was parked at the road around 8:30 p.m. when residents saw the fire.
The villagers went out of their homes and saw unidentified persons who pointed their flashlights at them.

They said they reported the incident to their village officials, who relayed the information to police.
Investigators, on Friday, have yet to identify the perpetrators.
