Talisay City resident gets life term for selling shabu

BACOLOD CITY — A resident of Talisay City in Negros Occidental was sentenced on Thursday to life imprisonment for selling shabu on Dec. 29, 2019, to a poseur buyer in Barangay Zone 3, Talisay City, Negros Occidental.

Executive Judge Raymond Joseph Javier of the Bacolod Regional Trial Court Branch 52 found Benjie Entrina Buenafe, alias May-may, guilty for the sale of 0.488 gram of shabu in violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Buenafe was ordered to pay a fine of P1 million.

He was likewise found guilty of possession of an additional 0.7585 gram of shabu and meted the penalty of 17 to 20 years of imprisonment and to pay a fine of P400,000.

Buenafe was also found guilty of possession of dangerous drug paraphernalia and was sentenced to two years and one day as a minimum to four years as maximum, imprisonment, and to pay a fine of P50, 000.

The judge ordered the turn over of the confiscated drugs to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency for destruction and the transfer of Buenafe to the National Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City.
