MANILA, Philippines — Different areas of the country were forecast to likely experience rain on Friday due to the shear line and trough of a low-pressure area (LPA), according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

The state weather bureau said rainy weather is seen over the Bicol Region due to the shear line or tail-end of a frontal system. Residents are advised to take caution due to possible landslides due to moderate to heavy rain.

Pagasa also predicted high chances of rain in the provinces of Marinduque, Romblon, Quezon, and the southern portion of Oriental Mindoro by Friday afternoon and evening.

It likewise said the rest of Luzon, including Metro Manila, may expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies in the next 24 hours, as isolated light rains are possible in Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Region, La Union, and Aurora.

Over at the Visayas region, scattered rain showers may be anticipated, particularly in the eastern portion of the region, the state weather bureau said.

Pagasa added overcast skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are likely to occur in the Davao Region, Caraga, and Soccsksargen due to the trough of the LPA.

The rest of Mindanao, meanwhile, may have partly cloudy to cloudy skies, with high chances of rain in the Bangsamoro Region, Northern Mindanao, and the Zamboanga Peninsula due to localized thunderstorms.

No tropical cyclone is expected this weekend, Pagasa said.
