CIDG local units reshuffled

MANILA, Philippines—There will be a reshuffle in leadership of the provincial and regional offices of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), Director Samuel Pagdilao Jr. said Friday.

Pagdilao said that the reorganizaiton was not only based on two quarters’ worth of evaluation but was also triggered by the investigation into the members of their Anti-Fraud and Commercial Crimes Division (AFCCD) who allegedly extorted money from a Chinese national Edwin Tan Ngie last February 23 in Manila.

The move was also meant to beef up the CIDG campaign against most wanted persons through change in leadership, he said.

Pagdilao said that the following members of the AFCCD being investigated for supposedly extorting money from the foreigner have been relieved from their posts: Chief Inspector Teodulo Armanda, Chief Inspector Bienvenido Reydado, Chief Inspector Fernando Reyes, Senior Police Officer 3 Rosauro Almonte, SPO3 Leandro Santos, SPO2 Juancho Medalla, SPO2 Victor Dimaano, SPO2 Eduardo Liwanagan, SPO1 Veronica Villareal, PO3 William Geneblaso, PO3 Sitti Usman, PO3 Glicerio Encela, PO3 Alfredo Bautista, and PO2 Joven dela Cruz.

He said that he has assigned Superintendent Benjamin Acorda to head the AFCCD with orders to “institute drastic reforms.” He was formerly the Region 4B Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (4BRCIDG) chief.

Replacing Acorda as 4BRCIDG chief is Superintendent Nazario Fernandez, who was served as chief of the Police Community Relation (PCR), Operations Management Division (OMD).
