Zamboanga City all set for bar exams
ZAMBOANGA CITY, Zamboanga del Sur—Chocolates, candies and health essentials were neatly packed, intended for 44 would-be lawyers from the Ateneo de Zamboanga University (ADZU) who will take the bar examination starting on Friday.
Fr. Karel San Juan, ADZU president, blessed the 44 bags containing alcohol, disinfectant wipes, tissue, medicines and vitamins, essential oil, and snacks like candies and chocolates.
“This is part of the bar ops or bar operations which law schools do for their respective bar examinees. Other law schools might also have their kits for their respective bar examinees,” San Juan said.
The bar ops are traditional practice for law schools, preparing convenience kits for bar examinees to boost morale.
Apart from the snacks and health essentials, San Juan included his letter of encouragement together with an image of St. Ignatius, Ateneo’s patron saint, and an AdZU seal medal, “all intended to raise our bar taker’s morale and pump up their spirits.”

Through the intercession of St Ignatius of Loyola, we ask our Almighty Father to give them the chance to reap the fruits of their labors and open the door to a future where we can finally see them as fully-fledged Ignatian attorneys. Amen.”

The examinees were tested for the coronavirus on Wednesday, as required.
The city government has issued a couple of executive orders to ensure that all the bar examinees come to this city in tip-top shape, free from the coronavirus.
Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco Salazar issued Executive Order BC 703-2022, requiring all the vaccinated bar examinees to undergo antigen test 48 hours before the examination on February 4.
Those unvaccinated are required to show their RT-PCR test with negative results, and those who tested positive will not be allowed to take the bar examinations.
Another order is the rerouting of traffic in major roads to decongest the roads leading to and around ADZU.
