DepEd employee nabbed for selling drugs in Biliran village

TACLOBAN CITY—A woman working at the Department of Education (DepEd) was arrested Tuesday by agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the local police of Kawayan town, Biliran province.

Maria Umpacan, 54, was accused of selling illegal drugs in Barangay Masagaosao.

Seized from her were two sachets of shabu weighing 0.0846 grams worth P575.

Umpacan denied the allegation, saying she did not own the illegal drugs.

She is now detained at the Kawayan police station and will face charges for possession and selling of illegal drugs under Republic Act 9165.
