1,477 new COVID-19 cases in Metro Manila lowest since Dec. 30, 2021 — OCTA

MANILA, Philippines — Metro Manila’s new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday dropped to 1,477, significantly lower than the 4,040 additional infections recorded on Sunday, according to independent analytics group OCTA Research.
OCTA Research fellow Guido David, citing data from the Department of Health (DOH), told INQUIRER.net that the 1,477 new cases was the lowest since December 30, 2021, when Metro Manila had 1,092 additional coronavirus infections.
Metro Manila was earlier reclassified by the DOH as moderate risk from the previous high risk status for COVID-19 following the decrease in new cases in the capital region.
Based on data shared by David on Twitter, Cebu topped the provinces with the most number of new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday with 638 cases, followed by Davao del Sur with 486, Cavite with 429 and South Cotabato with 383 new cases.<

The DOH reported 9,493 new COVID-19 cases nationwide on Tuesday, the lowest since January 5 when additional infections soared to 10,775.
While new cases are on a downward trend in Metro Manila, however, the DOH said that an increase in infections has been observed in parts of the Visayas and Mindanao.
