Businesswoman found dead in Cagayan

/ 12:49 PM March 02, 2012

MANILA, Philippines – A businesswoman was found dead early this week in Cagayan and authorities were looking into either robbery or a relationship dispute as motive behind her killing, police said.

Senior Inspector Wilhelmino Saldivar Jr, Gatarran, Cagayan chief of police, identified the victim as Laurence Mangosing, 35, a resident of Barangay (village) Centro 1, Sanchez Mira, Cagayan.

The body of Mangosing, a Natasha direct selling manager, was found by a resident dumped along Barangay (village) Nassiping in Gattaran around 2 p.m. Tuesday. She was found with “a wound in the head, hematoma on the neck, still with a shirt on, but with her jeans pulled down — an indication that she may have been raped too,” Saldivar said.

Initial investigation showed that before Mangosing was found dead, she mentioned to some members of her family that she has a text mate and would meet with somebody to “settle a broken relationship,” he said.

Police said they were also looking at robbery as another angle as the P17,000 cash Mangosing was about to deposit at Banco de Oro in Tuguegarao that same day, was missing.

“Wala kasing record ng transaction si Mangosing doon sa bangko,” he said.

He said that Mangosing may have been just dumped in Gatarran, but was killed in another place.

He also said that the crime may have been done by “several men” by looking at the way she was dumped.

Police have names of possible suspects, but refused to divulge it to the media so as not to distract the ongoing investigation.
