MANILA, Philippines — Two motorcycle-riding gunmen have shot and wounded a radio commentator in the central Philippines in the latest attack on journalists in the country.

Senior Police Inspector Stephen Somosot says Fernando Gabio was outside his home in Iloilo city on Friday when the assailants fired three shots, hitting Gabio’s leg. The 62-year-old Gabio was in stable condition at a hospital.

Gabio hosts the “Mr. Expose” program on Radyo Mo Nationwide. The show tackles topics such as corruption.

Somosot says Gabio had received death threats from unknown telephone callers.

The National Union of Journalists of the Philippines says 150 journalists have been killed since 1986. The New York-based Committee to Protect Journalists has ranked the Philippines as the second-deadliest country for journalists next to Iraq.
