COVID-19 cases in Pampanga capital fall below 1,000

MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga—For the first time in the last 20 days, the City of San Fernando registered less than 1,000 active COVID-19 cases, data from the city government showed Monday, Jan. 31.

The active cases in San Fernando dropped to 962 from 1,161 the previous day, registering only four new patients, 195 recoveries, and zero deaths.

The active cases in the capital city started to breach the 1,000-mark on Jan. 13 with 1,066. On Jan. 23, it recorded its highest active cases at 1,780.

Dolores village has the most active cases at 228, followed by Sindalan (152) and Telabastagan (68).

The city had recorded 14,072 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began in 2020. Of these, 12,776 had recovered, while 334 had died.

Local officials have been urging residents and visitors in the city to wear face masks and observe physical distancing in public places at all times.
