Streaking Powerade five tries to continue winning run, faces slumping Barako Bull Energy

Games today:

5:15 p.m.- Alaska vs. Meralco

7:30 p.m.- Barako Bull vs. Powerade

The streaking Powerade Tigers try to stay on top of the team standings of the 37th PBA Commissioner’s Cup when they take on a slumping Barako Bull Energy in today’s main game at the Cuneta Astrodome.

The Alaska Aces collide with the Meralco Bolts in the first game.

Despite the uncertain status of reliable rookie Marcio Lassiter before the start of the conference, the Tigers managed to start their campaign with a tough 122-120 win over the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters.

The Tigers were supposed to trade Lassiter to the Petron Blaze Boosters in favor of Rey Guevarra and Nonoy Baclao. The trade wasn’t approved by PBA Commissioner Chito Salud, who asked the two teams to revise the trade to make it more balanced.

Reportedly, the Boosters were willing to send Rabeh Al-Hussaini to the Tigers to get Lassiter, but the Powerade management opted to put on hold the trade.

The Tigers then responded with a 94-82 win over the Meralco Bolts and another win today will allow them to tie the defending champions Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters, who occupy the number one spot with a clean 3-0 (win-loss) card.

Talk ‘N Text and Powerade, who faced each other in the Philippine Cup Finals won by the Texters, are the only unbeaten teams left in the 10-team field.
