KIDAPAWAN CITY, Cotabato, Philippines — Mlang town in this province suspended COVID-19 vaccinations, starting Thursday, Jan. 27, until Jan. 30, after nine of its vaccinators showed mild symptoms of the disease, according to the municipal vaccination coordinator, Perla Piang.
Since the vaccinators had to be isolated, COVID-19 vaccinations were suspended in all hubs.
Piang hoped that the infected frontliners, including the doctors and nurses, would recover in seven days.
Mayor Russel Abondao has ordered the disinfection of all vaccination hubs in the town.
Abondao said at least 900 residents receive vaccine shots daily.
He said that the town’s target was to fully vaccinate at least 70,000 residents so it could achieve herd immunity. So far, 62,200 had completed their vaccination.
As of Friday, Mlang had 81 active COVID-19 cases.
