Truck helper dies after falling from speeding vehicle in Davao del Sur

DIGOS CITY—A truck driver currently detained at the police station of Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur is awaiting the decision of the family of his truck helper who died after falling from the speeding vehicle on Thursday.

Police Major Kristine Miraña, Sta. Cruz police chief, said Kevin Batawan Damali, 25, of Barangay Tibulo in Sta. Cruz, died from severe head injury when he fell from the roof of an Isuzu Elf truck driven by Vergel Rasay Vallente, 30, of Barangay Kapatagan, Digos City.

Miraña said Damali could have lost his balance as he tried to grab a plastic drum while the truck was speeding in Barangay Tibolo, Sta. Cruz toward a banana plantation where they were supposed to do a spraying operation.

The truck came from Digos City.
