MANILA, Philippines — The camp of presidential hopeful Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. brushed aside fellow aspirant Sen. Manny Pacquiao’s remark that he has a corruption issue.
“Sometimes there are statements that are better left ignored,” Vic Rodriguez, spokesperson on Marcos Jr, said in a statement on Saturday.
Pacquiao alleged that Marcos and Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso had “a corruption issue” in a one-on-one interview with presidential aspirants hosted by Boy Abunda on Friday.
INQUIRER.net also reached out to Moreno for comment but he has yet to respond.
The portion of Abunda’s interview, where candidates were asked why Filipinos must not vote for their rivals, has been controversial after Vice President Leni Robredo did not hesitate to criticize her political rivals.
During the segment, Robredo called Marcos Jr. a “liar.” In response, Rodriguez said Marcos Jr. “does not and will not engage in negative and hateful campaigning.”
