Customs agents seized over P2 million worth of ecstasy and ketamine drugs sent as mail parcels in Pasay City.
According to the Bureau of Customs (BOC), the 1,115 ecstasy tablets and 26.4 grams of ketamine were found inside five mail parcels that arrived at the Central Mail Exchange Center from the Netherlands and Germany.
The parcels, which bore no shipper details, were consigned to individuals from Caloocan, Mandaluyong, Bulacan and Davao. They were initially tagged suspicious by the X-ray Inspection Project personnel.
After physical inspection, a laboratory test was conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, confirming that the seized items were ecstasy and ketamine.
The BOC said criminal charges would be filed against those behind the illegal importation of the drugs. —Tina G. Santos
