DAGUPAN CITY—This city has achieved herd immunity after 129,586 residents received two doses of the vaccine that fights COVID-19.
The figure reflects 101.75 percent of the target 127,351 eligible population of the city, the public information office said, quoting the City Health Office. Dagupan has a population of 181,586 as of 2021.
But as of Jan. 25, the city recorded 603 active COVID-19 cases after logging 26 new infections.
After the city’s COVID-19 cases went down to a single digit in December last year, the infections spiked again in the first week of January, and health authorities said this could be due to the highly infectious Omicron variant.
