OLONGAPO CITY––At least 87 new COVID-19 cases, including six children, were registered Wednesday in this city, bringing the active infections to 502, local data showed.
The local COVID-19 task force said the six infected young patients were between 2 and 11 years old and all of them showed symptoms including fever, cough, and colds.
Records from the task force show that the oldest to get infected that day is a fully vaccinated 82-year-old man from Barangay Sta. Rita. He also manifested symptoms of the disease.
A virus-infected 22-year-old woman also became the latest fatality related to the disease. She suffered from acute respiratory failure secondary to septic shock secondary to sepsis.
She also had acute kidney injury secondary to intrinsic multiple electrolyte imbalance and hyponatremia secondary to severe dehydration.
Her death raised the number of patients in this city who died of COVID-19 complications since 2020 to 327.
Data also showed 64 new recoveries on Wednesday to the city’s tally.
The city has recorded 6,693 COVID-19 cases with 5,864 recoveries.
