MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) arrested eight of its own operatives after they ransacked a house in Angeles City, Pampanga, on Wednesday. CIDG director Albert Ignatius Ferro said the eight policemen raided a house in Diamond Subdivision before dawn purportedly on a firearm buy-bust operation, but no such operation was approved by CIDG officials. Arresting lawmen found in the raiders’ vehicle assorted belongings of the victims, including P300,000 and some US dollars. Ferro said criminal charges of robbery in band and extortion would be filed against them. —DEXTER CABALZA
