North Caloocan bust yields P13.6-M worth of shabu

MANILA, Philippines — At least P13.6 million worth of suspected crystal meth or shabu were seized from a female suspect in North Caloocan, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said.

Reports from the NCRPO on Wednesday said suspect Janesa Canoy, 25, was arrsted on Tuesday by combined agents from the Philippine National Police’s Drug Enforcement Group (PNP-DEG) Special Operations Unit, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and local police.

The NCRPO said Canoy was nabbed during the buy-bust along Langit Road corner Crusher Street, Phase 9, in Caloocan’s Barangay Bagong Silang.

Police said Canoy yielded a red plastic bag containing a Green and Gold Chinese Tea Bag; a blue plastic bag containing a Green and Gold Chinese Tea Bag, which police said was used to conceal the shabu; the marked cash used in the bust; various identification cards; and a black smartphone.

The suspcted shabu confiscated from the suspect weighed around 2 kilograms, with a street value of around P13.6 million.  The suspected shabu was turned over to PNP-DEG while charges for violation of Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being readied against Canoy.
