OLONGAPO CITY—The city government on Wednesday (Jan. 26) began the distribution of laptops to 1,500 public school teachers here to help them conduct online classes.

Mayor Rolen Paulino Jr. said the project was funded through the local government’s special education fund.

At least 850 laptops were given to the teachers during the first batch of the distribution on Wednesday morning.

The remaining 650 laptops are scheduled for distribution next month, Paulino said.

Paulino was joined by Olongapo City Schools Division Superintendent Leilani Cunanan in the initial turnover of the laptops held at the city hall.

“We have been through a lot, especially now that we’re experiencing the new normal…These [computer] units will help a lot in limited face-to-face classes,” Cunanan said during the distribution.
