MANILA, Philippines — The government’s vaccination program to administer COVID-19 booster shots in pharmacies will be expanded to Baguio City starting Wednesday, Malacañang said.
“Tomorrow we will begin the vaccination of booster shots sa mga botika in Baguio City,” Cabinet Secretary and acting presidential spokesman Karlo Nograles said in a briefing on Tuesday.
The government launched the program in select pharmacies starting Jan. 20 in a bid to ramp up vaccinations in the country.
Seven pharmacies in Metro Manila were part of the pilot program.
As of Jan. 24, a total of 2,626 booster doses have been administered, Nograles said.
Presidential adviser for COVID-19 response Vince Dizon earlier said the vaccination in pharmacies will also be expanded to other areas in the coming days.
He also said the government will consider giving incentives to pharmacies that will join the vaccination drive.
