MANILA, Philippines — A total of 807 areas in the country are currently under granular lockdowns, Interior Secretary Eduardo Año said Monday.
In a recorded briefing with President Rodrigo Duterte, Año said these areas are scattered in 296 barangays and 31 cities and municipalities in the country.
The granular lockdowns are affecting 1,111 households or 2,145 individuals.
Of the total, 169 areas are in Metro Manila.
The lockdowns are scattered in four cities and is affecting 290 households or 415 residents.
Areas are placed under granular lockdowns when there is a reported spike in COVID-19 cases in the area.
Metro Manila is currently placed under Alert Level 3 but the pandemic task force has yet to discuss whether the region will be placed under a more relaxed alert level in light of the declining COVID-19 cases.
