MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) on Monday logged an additional 24,938 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total cases to 3,442,056.

The health department likewise recorded 35,461 new recoveries in the country, which brings total number of recovered patients to 3,125,540, and decreasing the active cases in the country to just 262,997 from Sunday’s 273, 580.

The positivity rate is at 40.6% out of 59,896 tests conducted on Jan. 22.

The DOH said 97% or 24,239 of the new cases were recorded within the last 14 days.

Metro Manila remains to be the top region with the highest number of new cases at 3,610 (15%), followed by Calabarzon with 3,382 (14%), and Central Visayas with 2,562 (11).

Of the active cases, DOH said 250,235 patients currently suffer mild while 7,944 are asymptomatic. Meanwhile, 3,010 are having moderate symptoms, 1,499 severe, and 309 are in critical condition.

The DOH also recorded 47 new deaths, bringing the death toll to 53,519.
