MANILA, Philippines — Parts of the Visayas and Mindanao will have scattered rain showers on Monday due to the trough or extension of a low-pressure area (LPA) inside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR).

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the LPA was spotted at 3:00 a.m. some 445 kilometers east of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte.

(While the LPA has a low chance of developing into a tropical cyclone, it os expected to cross the Visayas and Mindanao areas and it will trigger rain showers.)

Eastern Visayas, Central Visayas, Caraga, Northern Mindanao, and Davao region will experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the LPA’s trough.

Pagasa also warned of possible flash floods and landslides in rain-affected areas.

The rest of the country, including Metro Manila, will have generally fair weather with possible isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.

No gale warning over the country’s seaboards has been raised, but waves are mostly moderate to rough.

(No gale warning is in effect, fishermen and those with small vessels may venture out at sea.)
