P5-M ecstasy pills from the Netherlands seized in Clark
MABALACAT CITY—A package from the Netherlands containing the party drug ecstasy was intercepted on Saturday at Port of Clark in this city because of a tip from the China Customs bureau, authorities said on Sunday.
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) discovered P5.1 million worth of ecstasy tablets following information relayed by China that the parcel that was routed through Shenzhen province was suspected to be carrying contraband, according to the PDEA Central Luzon office.
On Saturday night, PDEA agents, Bureau of Customs personnel and the police conducted an entrapment operation against the package consignee in Tandang Sora, Quezon City, and arrested the suspect, Jennifer Abas, who allegedly used “Evelyn Sotto” as her alias during the transaction. Also arrested was her companion, Genevie Abas. Undercover operatives pretended to be employees of a courier company delivering the package, which contained 3,034 tablets of the party drug, the PDEA said.
The suspects would face charges for importing dangerous drugs.
