P340k worth shabu seized in Sorsogon drug sting

LEGAZPI CITY — A notorious illegal drug suspect was arrested with P340,000 worth of suspected shabu (crystal meth) in a drug sting on Saturday night in Irosin town in Sorsogon province, a police report said Sunday.

Nelmer Biñas, 35, a high-value target (HVT) drug peddler and a resident of Barangay (village) Bacolod, was caught selling a gram of shabu to an undercover agent in a drug bust at around 11:46 p.m. in Barangay Salvacion.

While the suspect was being searched, police operatives found in his possession 50 grams of shabu.

The report said the suspect was the subject of a week of surveillance operations after reports of his illegal drug activities reached police.

He allegedly sells 10 to 50 grams of the illegal substance every week to his customers.

The arrested suspect was detained at the town police custodial facility while police are preparing charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
